About the Role
As Technical Lead for Merchant Operations & Experience at Midtrans, you will lead a team focused on delivering seamless and scalable solutions for merchant success. This role challenges you to design and optimize workflows that impact thousands of merchants while ensuring stability and innovation in our systems. Within the first six months, you will spearhead key initiatives that enhance onboarding efficiency, streamline support processes, and improve operational resilience, all while fostering a collaborative engineering culture that drives business growth.
What You Will Do
- Assess and manage team performance through staff meetings, one on ones, and quarterly assessments
- Mentor your engineers to ensure their growth and engagement in the team, evaluate team workload and develop a staffing plan, and assign projects and balance workload to ensure continuous delivery and higher predictability
- Serve as primary interface to staffing team, creating job descriptions, identifying sources for candidates, conducting interviews and shepherding candidates through the process
- Lead a team of Software Engineers focused on improving velocity and impact across GTF’s diverse project areas and platforms
- Become a partner to Product Managers and Senior Engineering Manager on executing the vision, strategy and OKRs
- Provide technical expertise throughout the product life cycle including design, implementation, and delivery of scalable build/test/release infrastructure
What You Will Need
- You have at least 2 years of engineering management experience and 6 years of overall software development experience
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers to deliver impactful solutions as well as managing their career growth
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define and execute the roadmap for merchant operations and experience
- Drive technical vision and strategy for scalable, high-performance systems
- Oversee the development of tools and systems that enhance merchant experiences
- Establish best practices and processes for engineering excellence and operational efficiency
- Deep knowledge in software architecture & system design
- Well versed with Agile methodologies, TDD and Test Engineering, and Automation
About the Team
The Merchant Services team is a family of 60+ engineers based in Jakarta, Singapore, and India. We consistently strive to implement solutions that allow our merchant-partners in Indonesia (and the greater Southeast Asian region) to sell their products both online and offline. We also work to improve the merchant-partner experience by product innovation and integration with the rest of the Gojek ecosystem.

Our portfolio of products include merchant-facing solutions that enable our subscribed merchants to sell their goods and services both online and offline. South-East Asia is a very dynamic market, where products have to react promptly to market trends and shifts, and where product managers and business leads need the flexibility to experiment and iterate fast. With that in mind, from an engineering perspective, our challenges are to evolve a general platform for e-commerce that is sufficiently versatile to support rapid product iterations across multiple products, as well as scaling up to an ever-growing user-base. To tackle these challenges, we have adopted event-driven architectural patterns in our engineering designs, as well as agile practices across all our day-to-day processes.
